Linux Lite是一个基于Debian和Ubuntu开发的Linux发行版（即作业系统）。 其配有经过修改的、轻量级的Xfce桌面环境，并包含一组以Lite命名的自有应用程式，对新手使用者较为友好。

Linux Lite目的之一是起到「中继」的作用：帮助使用者平滑地从Windows迁移到Linux操作系统。其在选择软体和编程中遵循这样的Unix理念：「一个程式做一件事并做好。」[5]。

Linux Lite基于Ubuntu LTS系列版本。[6] LTS代表长期支援，这意味着每个版本都有5年的支援期，即：每5年只需要进行一次重大的更新。在此期间，作业系统将不断收到各类小更新。

历史

Linux Lite起始于2013年释出的Linux Lite 1.0.0（代号为「紫水晶」，[9] 基于 Ubuntu）。它最初关注于将Windows使用者吸引到基于Linux的作业系统，这是为了消解Linux难以使用这一原生观念。

版本号

Linux Lite初始阶段的版本号分为三段，例如1.0.0。其中，第一个数字代表Ubuntu中的基础代码，即「1」指Ubuntu 12.04 LTS这一基础系统。第二个数字代表在其间的版本，即「0」指Ubuntu LTS 12.04.1版。第三个数字（「0」）代表此后的任意微小版本。对于2.x版本系列,[10]最后数字暨微小版本号已不需要。
